DESCRIPTION

The Col de la Madeleine road was completed in the late 60's and climbs to a height of 1993m. Since 1969 it has featured in the Tour de France 23 times, most recently in 2010. The northern ascent is the closest to the Cycle Hame chalet, it is just over 28km long with an average gradient of 5.4%. Despite the low average gradient this is a tough climb with some sections up to 10%.
